Navajo Print News - Thursday, January 19, 2012 - 10:31
Right now at B & J, we’ve gone a little Navajo crazy. We have fantastic Navajo-inspired prints and wovens in a range of fabrics. Need a Navajo silk chiffon and charmeuse combination? We have it. Cotton print Navajo? Here are a few you may not have seen. We're working on adding the cottons to the site, but feel free to call or email if you are interested in any of these prints!
We also have several more traditional wool Navajo wovens that can be used creatively in both garment and home.

New Year, New Projects! - Tuesday, January 10, 2012 - 10:10
It’s a new year, so it must be time for new projects! Vogue Patterns magazine (Feb/Mar 2012) has some great ideas that feature some fabrics that we have in stock. Some of these butterflies are nearly 12 inches across!
It’s a great idea to use a simple garment pattern or design with a showstopper of a print. The effortless belted tunic (Vogue pattern V8769) looks like it would go together quickly, be extremely comfortable, and flaunt a big-scale print. It’s never too early to think about simple tops like that for summer wear! The sheer silk chiffon jacket and silk charmeuse tank combo (V2779) is a dressier option that has a more season-less appeal. Mixing the chiffon and the charmeuse of the same print in a garment or set of garments adds interest and a unique detail to your wardrobe. Think of using coordinating chiffon ruffles on a charmeuse dress. The options are endless! Our chiffons and charmeuses are labeled in-store as to which has a match. Keep an eye out in our store for the opportunity to dial your design ideas up a notch!

Metallic for the New Year! - Thursday, December 22, 2011 - 09:12
Shiny things. Who doesn’t like shiny things? I know each one of us, whether we’ll admit it or not, has a little magpie in them. Especially in fashion, there’s something alluring about a well put together design that incorporates metallic fabrics. Done right, metallics can create a piece that's all at once eye-catching without being too overworked or obnoxious. 2012 looks to be a shiny year too, with designers such as Chanel and Norman Ambrose sending out Spring and Pre-Fall pieces that bring to the runway a subtle and sophisticated shine, that’s sure to satisfy that inner magpie.

Here at B&J we just got in a group of six beautiful metallic viscose fabrics that can help you, in your own way, incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. Ranging in color from bronze to gold, these pieces from India have a great lightweight feel to them, giving them the capacity for a delicate drape without sacrificing structure. I love these, and with their twill-like metallic finish, I can imagine them being used in any manner of ways. I could certainly use some nice bronze pants, and I’m sure you could too. (You know you want ‘em.)
Each color is $39.95/yd and 53” (134cm) wide and ordering info can be found in the "Brocades" section above.
Welcome to the new B&J website! - Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - 18:17
Welcome to the new B&J website! We’ve been steadily working behind the scenes on improving and updating our site. The first big change is that you are now able to order in ½ yard increments. The second change is a new “Favorites” button where you can easily keep track of must-have goods. We’ve also added about 2,300 fabrics to our online choices, and lots of other elements that should make the whole online experience more appealing. We are still working on some of the details, but we hope you enjoy the changes.
